Videos: What Shanghai looked like on Chinese New Years

So those of us who’ve lived through Spring Festival in knew what to expect: tons and tons of fireworks, set off from both homes and commercial establishments, into the wee hours of the morning and – usually – the rest of the . In fact, last , being the to welcome in the Fortune Goddess, was quite a doozy.

While Beijing might be getting the most attention from media right now, the real show was in . Apparently, we beat them in fireworks usage by about 200 tons. That’s right, the only managed to throw up 800 tons of explosions into the air compared to our 1000. Lame!

Anyway, those of us living here may be a little shell shocked, but for audiences that want a taste of what went on February 14th in this city: a compilation of fireworks vids below.
