Possible For Expatriate To Invest In Vanguard?
I’m a US citizen living in Japan currently. I’m not sure whether or not I’ll be returning to the US, but I would like to start in investing for retirement. I’ve heard good things about Vanguard so I’d like to invest with them. It’s says non-US investors aren’t allowed to invest there, but I’m not certain if that means non-US citizens or is it people who are not residents. I still file taxes and use my parents’ home as a residence for various purposes.
Is it possible for me to invest with Vanguard?

Yes, you are definitely eligible to invest in Vanguard. You are a U.S. citizen and are entitled to all the rights and privileges of citizenship, and you cannot be discriminated against because of your residency in Japan.

They are right. You can invest in Vanguard or any other funds or stocks.
Go to http://www.vanguard.com and find out how you can do it direct from them if possible. I buy and sell stocks but I have found that all you have to do is search the web for whatever company and they usually have a good deal directly from them.
You might also try a search for “mutual funds”. You will get a lot more information then I can give.
