Iran To Force Christians & Jews To Wear Badges? What Next???
Iran may force Jews, Christians to wear badges
By UNITED PRESS INTERNATIONAL
Published May 19, 2006
TEHRAN — Iran’s parliament passed a new law this week that would force the country’s Jews, Christians and other religious minorities to wear color-coded ID badges.
Iranian expatriates confirmed reports the Iranian parliament, or majlis, has approved a law that would require non-Muslims to adhere to a dress code which mandates they wear “standard Islamic garments,” according to Canada’s National Post.
The roughly 25,000 Jews living in the Islamic Republic would have to attach a yellow strip of cloth to their clothing, Christians would wear red badges and Zoroastrians would wear blue ones.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader and highest authority, must approve the law for it to take effect.

do not belive every thing you see in media.
this report was published in the “national post” newspaper.
in the evening it was denied by iran government and lastly they had to call one of jew members of iranian parliamant and he laughed at this report and said ” this is an insult to iranian jews and report is absoulte lie.”
yahoo news wanted to publish the report and they did but when the denial came from jewsih member of parliament they removed it from the yahoo news.
ok,see a bigger picture, iran is under a bombardment of propaganda and americans are spending billions. the only counterattack to it is by being calm and making sure media is not brainwashing you.
remember that jews are hated by arabs .and iranian president is trying to relieve the pressure from arab world agaisnt iran by joining them in their anti israel rethoric.
other wise iran will be hated by arabs and attacked by america in the same time!!!!

Non-Muslim Dress Code “Fabricated”: Iranian Jew
“It is a lie, and the people who invented it wanted to make political gain by doing so,” Motammed said.
TEHRAN, May 20, 2006 (IslamOnline.net & News Agencies) – Iran’s only Jewish MP strongly denied reports that Tehran may force non-Muslims to wear colored badges in public so as they can be identified.
“This report is a complete fabrication and is totally false,” Maurice Motammed told Agence France-Presse (AFP) in Tehran on Friday, May 19.
“It is a lie, and the people who invented it wanted to make political gain by doing so.”
Canada’s National Post newspaper claimed on Friday that Iran’s parliament passed a law this week on setting a public dress code, requiring non-Muslims to wear special insignia.
The daily alleged that Jews, Christians and Zoroastrians would be forced to wear a yellow, red or blue strip of cloth, respectively, on the front of their clothes.
The unconfirmed reports on the non-Muslims’ dress code has drawn immediate rebukes from many Western countries.
The United States said that the report would be “despicable” reminder of Nazi Germany’s persecution of the Jews.
Australian Prime Minister John Howard said Friday, during an official visit to Ottawa, that “anything of that kind would be totally repugnant to civilized countries.”
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper also said he had only seen reports about the law but that he would not be surprised by them.
Clothing Bill
The Jewish lawmaker said he had been present in parliament when a bill to promote an Iranian and Islamic style of dress for women was voted.
“In the law, there is no mention of religious minorities,” he added.
Motammed said MPs representing Iran’s Jewish, Christian and Zoroastrian minorities sit on all parliamentary committees, particularly the cultural one.
Iranian lawmaker Emad Afroogh, who sponsored the bill, said the Canadian daily’s report was totally fabricated and bare of truth.
“It’s a sheer lie. The rumors about this are worthless,” said Afroogh, who also chairs the parliament’s cultural committee.
“The bill is not related to minorities. It is only about clothing,” he said.
The draft law discourages women from wearing Western clothing. It also increases taxes on imported clothes and fund an advertising campaign to encourage citizens to wear Islamic-style garments.
The draft law was preliminary approved by parliament on Sunday, May 14. It was later re-debated by parliament last week but failed to pass.
“Please tell them (in the West) to check the details of the bill. There is no mention of religious minorities and their clothing in the bill,” Afroogh told AFP.

I dislike Bush’s choices as much as the next guy, but even Democrats got to admit that the Iranian stuff is a little fishy. I mean, it’s no secret that want to eradicate the jews. It seems like just a matter of time before they start a modern holocaust. Bush-hater or not, we cannot allow this to happen.

Oh my dear,
The information you provided here is nothing but total innocence. Iran has not and will never have a color code or badges for non-Muslims.
Iranian people will not accept such BS, and you will see a lot of secular and religious Iranians standing up against it.
This is a pure propaganda to create a demon out of Iran to justify the upcoming build up for a war. The source of the information, Mr. Taheri and Benador Associates, have been one of the major source of miss-information in the past to change the course of history.
Please take a look at the site:http://www.noquestionsasked.org/discussi…
Which has all the articles, as well as some historical background view on the Benador Associates like Mr. Ledeen and Richard Perle (so called prince of darkness), James Woolsey (the ex head of CIA) and many other people who lied the Americans into the war with Iraq based on the “fact” that Iraq had WMD.
All those facts, and almost everything that members of Benador Associates have come up with has proven to be false in the past and this organization with their strong connection with the AIPAC are the front runners for the Israeli propaganda machine in the US and around the world.
Don’t be fooled by propaganda of Nation Review and sadly UPI, this is a build up for a war, the same way Germans were telling stories to the people of Poland about the Jews stealing Christian kids and drinking their blood during special ceremonies and that was why Germans wanted to keep them under control.
The lies are the same, targets are different, the fascists of today are doing the same that Guebels and other propagandists of the Nazi Germany did in the 30s with the result of over 50 million death during the WW2.
Take also a closer look at the article of Jim Lobe about the same subject:
Iran the Target of Disinformation Campaign http://www.antiwar.com/lobe/?articleid=9…
Just remember that the IRI’s constitution states that
“The constitution states that, “within the limits of the law,” Zoroastrians, Jews and Christians are the only recognized religious minorities who are guaranteed freedom to practice their religion.”
Someone should tell Mr. Taheri that his lies are only for people who do not know Iran and Benador Associates reputation like the poster of the question here.
Best regards,
/Farhad Abdolian

It’s a false report. Look into it, really. You will find the source of this story is from Iranian ex patriots living in Canada.
You should check your news sources more carefully or risk disseminating propaganda. You’ve made a mistake and now they’ll be people that actually believe you.
This is the danger of religion, the desire to see evil where there is none. You’ve spread rumor as fact and should retract this question. Lies like this have cost literally millions of lives in the last 15 years.
Check your god damned sources!

Actually, Hitler took the idea of yellow badged Jews from an old Islamic law designed to humiliate non-Muslims. Jews wore yellow stars of david, Christians wore blue turbans or something similar to that. They aren’t getting the idea from Hitler, Hitler got it from them. Do research on the term “Dhimmi” and you will find out everything you need to know.
Also, why is everyone surprised? This kind of thing is already going on in Egypt. It’s just not as blatant. Christians and Jews in Egypt must carry a special I.D. card so that the government can keep tabs on them and the Muslim majority in Egypt will know to treat them with disrespect and be made aware that they have less civil rights than that of Muslim citizens. You simply never hear about this from the media is all.
